Kale lived with a friend of Lamont-Yung's, Terry Jennings, before moving into a flat with Tony Conrad. Angus McLeese lived in another flat in the same building. As there was not much money to be made in avant-garde music, Kale also worked in a bookshop and had a sideline in dealing drugs. But vents were so cheap at this time that Kale and Conrad only had to work part-time,. They could spend much of their time working on the music they were making with Yung.
