The destruction of the traditional news media source of income led to a subscriber model, which then created this weird incentive structure. If you upset your subscribers and they get angry and tweet you or leave or unsubscribe, your very business could go under. So we have these legacy news organizations, which are now subject to the same kind of thing that would affect someone who streams on YouTube - something known as audience capture. And I think for that very reason, if 9-11 were to happen today, God forbid, we wouldn't rally together the way we did 21 years ago because it was before social media caused all the chaos we experienced today.
