Deceleration in Running Shoes

Shoes don't really change that much. Shoes do change this deceleration force. It's the force pushing backwards on your body. Downhill deceleration increases 20% to 30% relative to flat ground at the same pace. That's why we're starting to see a lot of rounded heels, these kind of extended tails, swallow, tail designs,. All of that is in response to lowering deceleration forces.
