People want to have frequent light touch interactions with HR because they need their emotional hand held. The person who or people who help you be reassured that you're doing the right thing is very, very often the HR function. If we do it well, then doing it well frequently is better than doing it well, not frequently. It's almost like the subtext is everyone hates HR. But if you want to build an organization deserving of the best people, you've got to invest in HR and rethink our own practice through the lens of us doing it really well.
