Robinson Crusoe's Journey to Desert Island

There were a number of real life accounts of sailors marooned on Desert Island circulating at the time. Defoe was writing, some of which are said to have inspired the story of Robinson Crusoe. The most likely candidate was Alexander Salke who was stranded in Ireland in the Pacific Juan Fernandez. And it was also Woods Rogers, who was born in Bristol, and who was appointed by Bristol Merchant to go actually and tackle pirates. He cruised around the world, and on his way there, he rescued Salke and Wood Rogers, himself, wrote his own account of the story.
