The Importance of Defense in the Transition to an Israel Without Weapons

Is it even possible to imagine a transition to an Israel that isn't primarily relying on weapons exports? I think there was like a contract you refer to later in the late in the book, a sort of NSO contract, which perhaps officials in an important country, perhaps the US I can't quite recall, are trying to block. The defense industry really is to some extent a perfect insurance policy because so many nations around the world are unlikely to stop wanting that technology and those tools.
