The aegeans major connections to the rest of this world ran through the island of cyprus. The city of troy on the asian side of the aegean may have been home to speakers of the luvian languages. Cyprus, of course, was the source of huge amounts of copper, one of the key ingredients in bronze. Ships from all over had to put up tons upon tons of metal in there to pick it up.
