The Challenges of Derida's Early Works
Nicholas Johnson: Derida is not a de clutterer. He had a great love of the tradition, but he also had a very kind of powerful, or powerful impulses to invent and transform. The condition of him doing that was his classical training. So it's used. And i think this is something that he makes clear in one of his great early essays, the essay on freud, freud on the scene of writing. But there is always a some going on in his reading, which is a kind of combination of fidelity and betrayal.
