Introduction
The state Board of Education passed a new math framework last week. It includes introducing more real world applications and social justice concepts into math lessons. In 2014 San Francisco's education officials decided to begin offering Algebra 1 only in the 9th grade. The intent was to keep an achievement gap from forming as students jumped ahead of their middle school peers.
