Pre-Intubation 500 Milliliter Crystalloid Intravenous Infusion for Prevention of Cardiovascular Collapse

A pre-intubation 500 milliliter crystalloid intravenous infusion is a commonly used and commonly recommended practice that is thought to be helpful for mitigating the risk of cardiovascular collapse with tracheal intubation. This study, as you can see, was stopped for futility at the interim analysis after enrolling 337 patients and found no benefit from fluid bolus overall. However, when we looked at potential effect modifiers, we were interested in a consistent signal that suggested to us a physiological group of patients who might be more likely to benefit from fluid Bolus.
