i think a lot of people misunderstand the united states relationship to emigration historically. We really did make it harder to get here for emigrants and that started in the early twenties. And i think you need to understand that to then understand how america failed as hitler is coming to power and before the war actually starts. The size thing, in addition to that, is when we would go to the germans in the 19 thirties, before things got really horrible, very clear that they were moving in that direction.
