Latent Defilements Are Not Awakening in the Moment
Sometimes the defilements are rising just on the mental level. They're not manifesting through speech or action, but they are influencing our mind states. We can notice how this force of latent defilements can arise many times a day. So the potential for them remains in the mind. Do we get upset? You and things don't go the way we want them to? Do we get attached when they do? Or do we respond with wisdom? To the pleasant, to the unpleasant.
