effective field theory is a framework, for those of you who don't know, the idea of effective field theory. So I think that understanding how effective field theories work might help you be a reductionist, but I don't know what it means to say that it's a framework for reductionism. Sorry about that. Usually by the way, usually, you know, for these kinds of questions, sometimes people say, I've always found it helpful to actually find someone saying that because it's too easy to paraphrase or oversimplify when you say this.
Welcome to the May 2023 Ask Me Anything episode of Mindscape! These monthly excursions are funded by Patreon supporters (who are also the ones asking the questions). We take questions asked by Patreons, whittle them down to a more manageable number — based primarily on whether I have anything interesting to say about them, not whether the questions themselves are good — and sometimes group them together if they are about a similar topic. Enjoy!
