The Importance of Understanding

Psychologists have found that people become more open minded when they feel understood. They are also less prejudiced towards out groups, according to the research. The work has changed how you interact with others in your job as a psychologist. Do you do things differently to day than you did in the past? Oh, absolutely. One of the things i do, particularly with students, is that no students will often come to you with a request for this, that or the other thing. And often it's not a request we can grant. But at least they know that i paid attention and respected where they re coming from.
