The Dynamics Within the Republican Party

On today’s grand finale of the year, we are joined by Gov. Ron DeSantis, who discusses how he plans to drain the swamp. He plans to use his model for recruiting competent conservatives into government in Florida and to be ready on day one with several thousand resumes to send to the Senate. He also discussed how to drain the GOP establishment swamp by leading on issues and shaming them into following. DeSantis reminds us that when he took over as governor, the Florida GOP had the same establishment donor mindset we see at the national level. He calls for an overhaul of the primary process in favor of more conventions and caucuses so we can get more grassroots-minded candidates to win down the ballot. Finally, we discuss state-based immigration enforcement, his support for an immigration cool-off period on mass legal immigration, and the need to limit the authority of the FBI and focus the agency on select national and international issues of importance. Later on, I explain why the establishment fears DeSantis a lot more than Trump and why DeSantis is the only option to actually change the party as it relates to policy outcomes.
