The Effects of Dissociation on the Brain in Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder

A key brain region that came out in these analyses was the ventramedial prefrontal cortex. It's involved in helping us to regulate our physical and emotional reactions. People with more dissociative symptoms had decreased connectivity with two other regions of the brain, orbital frontal cortex and right labial 8A in cerebellum. If we extrapolate a little bit from there, this might mean that the ventrameldial prefrontal cortex is communicating less with these regions of thebrain.
