How to Time the Do Now

Teachers should not ask students to copy the question down during do nows. This can lead to what Adam Boxer calls busy tricking, where kids write things down in their books instead of learning from them. The best way to time the do now is to circulate the room and get a sense of where pupils are at by looking at their work.
