National Innovation Systems - What Are They?
The US has this strong scientific basis and really ample research funding in a lot of areas that it's not a surprise that we end up with solar getting developed on the research side in the US. Other countries have different attributes that lead them to be entrepreneurial or have specific expertise in life sciences versus physics. And so, yeah, there's distinct capabilities. No one country could have done all that themselves. The idea that countries are different and thus the contributions they have to innovation are different is the idea of National Innovation Systems.
