The Foundation of Police in America
In the 1850s, Rochester set up their first new police department. It was based on the New York City model of 1829. And I was curious, what did Fredrick Douglas say about the police coming to Rochester? He said nothing. That is a pretty strong piece of evidence to say that no, the foundation of police was not white supremacy,. If it were, we would have heard about it from Fredrick Douglas, I would think.
