The History of Clocks and Time

Before industrialization, pre-industrial people did not have this basic sort of duality between you and time. Time is some sort of thing that you have to maximize, a resource you have to use. I think there are cultures where this idea of what anthropologists call task orientation instead of time orientation is still really prevalent. It's very dubious to make comparisons between earlier phases of people in industrialized countries and indigenous peoples today.
