It attacked the mirror above the mahogany bureau, sending a wave of energy that slammed into nick's chest. Nick threw up a shield of dilated reality, deflecting the next attack. The night stand burst into splinters, while the milk and cookies continued floating placidly above where the night stand had been. They began to glow blue as nick gathered more power to work with the christmas tree and presence began emanating warm green and red light. It seemed to originate from between the box spring and the mattress, as if it was not hiding in the room so much as inhabiting its shape.
