The History of Zionism

I think about understanding like Zionism in general is just like where did this even come from? And seeing as something that like the longing and the connection to the land being part of Jewish culture and religion, but that only turning into a desire for a nation state. I would say because it feels like to me, from just reading about the history of Zionism, it did kind of start in a religious like origin but it became more political.
