The sport wasn't interested in having black skaters. And I imagine that there was also a really pervasive sense of like, we tried. We're leaving talent on the table if we don't open up these spaces. It's beautiful to know that just by being out there with brown skin or in a woman's body or with natural hair or, you know, with big hips or whatever it was that somebody said, you can do that so I can do that.
