The Effect of Humor on Jokes
The more spontaneous the laughter, the funnier it makes a joke. There are various theories of humour including Freud's ' psychic energy' All of that is happening in our brain and we're not aware of any of it. We just find things funny or don't find them funny at all. I think there was a story told to me about canned laughter on BBC1 this weekend. It was someone saying: "I'm going to make you laugh" And then they did - but with an audience of people who had never heard one before.
