P-hacking is when you write about a result that's not actually interesting, not important and not valuable. Spencer argues that important hacking is at least as big a problem as p-hacking. How does one do that? Well, there are a handful of ways. You can commit fraud straight up like Andrew Wakefield and the vaccines and autism stuff. The second type is hacking novelty, which is where you refer to something in a way that makes it seem more novel or unintuitive than it is.
