The internet is still, thank God, knock on wood open. And the ability for anyone to build a competing service is still possible. I don't buy the assumption that these are built in monopolies and therefore it allows some regulatory process to be actively enforced because they're monopolies. This isn't like when utilities laid power lines and sewer lines and trains across the country and they had a physical monopoly on being able to access and move goods and services.
