The Influence of Anti-Arabism on Renaissance Medicine
In Renaissance Italy, as in the Islamic world, Jews were strongly associated with the study and practice of medicine. Most authors found it impossible to escape medical literature written originally in Arabic. The curriculum in Bologna called for the study of Arasi and Avasana, along with Galen. A professororial chair just for Materia medica was created at Padua.
