The influence of the classical world is both everywhere and nowhere in American politics. The founding fathers were so deeply steeped in the classical tradition. Whether it was the Peloponnesian or Punic Wars Alexander the Great's Eurasia sweeping campaigns, they were all very much part of their daily mental universes. Even those who hadn't benefited from the same degree of formal education such as George Washington would still continuously return to the classical world for reference.
