The Importance of Faith in Jesus's Life

In Matthew 15, we do have Jesus making a difficult statement. Many in Jesus's culture did refer to Gentiles or non-Jews as dogs. But regardless of whatever interpretation you take, it is clear that Jesus granted her request. And then he commended her for her faith. He said, woman, you have great faith. Your request is granted. This to me suggests that Jesus's statement wasn't intended to demean her or dismiss her. It could be seen as a teaching moment for both the man and his disciples.
