Impeachment Is a Hybrid of the Two
Congressman Adam Schiff seemed to suggest that there is pretty much no role for the judiciary in impeachment proceedings. Did Schiff just get it wrong? I mean, what is the balance of power here? The best way to understand it is look at John Bolton. House Democrats said we want John Bolton to testify. But the White House has asserted executive privileges that he can't testify. And they literally passed on it in the House. Contrast that to the impeachment of Richard Nixon and you had a grand jury subpoena for the White House tapes. In that case, the litigation went all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court. It would be different if they renamed Alexa Tricky like Dick Cheney's
