In the early seventies, wage growth went sideways for 50 years while productivity continued to skyrocket. The delta between flat wage growth and increased productivity in America is literally trillions of dollars in surplus values. When you have young people who aren't doing well, especially young men who are much more risk aggressive, it can lead to violence and revolution. There has been a conscious transfer of wealth from the bottom 90% and the young. What would be profoundly tragic is if the NASDAQ went down and the wealthy got off.
