After World War II in the U.S., boomers wanted to create a society in which their children would be better off than they were. That is a perfectly noble and good intention, but it can also give people the impression that there isn't anything we need to do to maintain prosperity's growth. "People have to understand what these institutions are," says economist John MacIntosh. They must respect them in their own behavior; then they have to transmit them to others,. including their children and grandchildren.
