Multi-Level Mondays Episode 5 - The PPP
The National Bureau of Economic Research found that the PPP did not have a substantial effect on local employment outcomes or business shutdowns. The NBER added that, since the program distributed a lot of money but had little effects on employment, they question what firms did with the money in the first place. They too suggest that less affected firms received additional financial aid and that even if the program could have been beneficial, it didn't live up to its name.
