Stephen avery spent 18 years in jail for rape. He sues the local police, who do not hold this man in very high regard. A short time later he is accused and charged with murder of woman called teresa holbuck. Claims he's been set up by the police but they say that's ridiculous. His nephew also co-accused - it's claimed they together murdered her. The series over eight episodes deals with investigation and trial of these two men to find out what happened.
