The Importance of Recording Explicit Memories
Everything you learn in the first 18 months of life and even before you're born is recorded in implicit, not explicit memory. The ability to create explicit memories does not develop until around 18 months of age or even slightly later. When you're paying attention to what's happening, you are able to record explicit memories. Implicit memories are created automatically without your awareness.
