The North of England Is Very Different From the Received Identity

The north of england is very different than the received identity that we think of. It has more of a scandinavian influence from the viking settlements that were there. And people are really, really straight with you. As as they say in yorkshire, they say nothing until they say everything about you and your flaws and how you can put yourself right. So i felt like i was privileged living at this frontier. And i could morefor my accent. I still do. Actually it's quite disturbing to to irish people when when i'm off into irishis the irish accent from my mother, but it's entirely natural.
