Broadcom bought Infineons in 2008 for $21 million. Today, it generates $34 billion a year in revenue. The deal changed Broadcom's fortunes because part of their playbook is they buy a company, clean it up and then use the cash flow to buy the next one. This had a huge impact on the rest of the semiconductor industry. Everyone was forced to consolidate. It really drove this big, big wave of consolidation.
