The Mithraic Temples

Mithraic temples are intended to look like a cave because there's a key part of the whole religion which was formulated around an event that took place in a cave. They're generally quite small, fairly simple structures. The congregations were probably no more than 30 or 40 people in most cases,. Although sometimes it's thought that the communities may have been larger but were divided into different congregations that worshiped at different times.
