The Importance of Honesty in MP Interviews
I was actually pleasantly surprised by how much MPs opened up over the course of some of the longer interviews. I remember one of them told me that they felt like they'd done an episode of Desert Island Discs. There was a sense in which they'd struck out at popular cynicism and media portrayals of MPs as all the same. One thing that surprised me was their honesty about their colleagues. So, that level of honesty was something that surprised me, but also contributed to what I was able to say in the book.
