Wolfram's Grail
In Parzaval, the Grail is a wondrous magical jewel which comes from the stars and also provides food and drink for its circle of devotees. In Shrentian's story, the wounded king of the Grail community will pass his crown and the stewardship of the Grail to the questing knight who asks him about his infirmity. And he is banished from the community. Wolfram von Essenbach decided to do his own version of the story by returning his Parzaval to the Grail castle to ask the proper question and become the Grail king - but it didn't reach print until 1477.
