The Thump, Pop, Sizzle

Strong songs listeners have trained themselves to listen for the thump and the pop and the sizzle. Most grooves have some element of each of those, but a creative thing you can do is remove one element or another. In this case, on the verse of kiss from a rose, they've almost completely ved pop,. There's a little tiny bit of cross stick on the snare that adds a little bit of pop, but basically there's no pop.
