The Ten Commandments and the Law of Moses
The problem is that people ignore four-fifths of the law or more as not being relevant, but they pick the one thing that they personally have an opinion about. They're just picking the one they want. It's a non-contextual reading of the Bible both historically, culturally, and also just if you look at the passages. If you privilege tradition and scripture read out of context, then it's going to be a very conservative interpretation. But if you privilege experience and reason, then you're going to come out in a much more liberal side.
