The Importance of Apprehension in Morality
I think the key response to your way of thinking about desire and the good is to point out that desire is always based on apprehension. I mean, more or less people can be wrong in how they see things. But ultimately, what it falls back on is a question about how things really are. So it's the priority of knowing over the will then is what you're pointing to. And a sign of this is that people will usually be honest enough to admit themselves a posteriori that they were wrong about something for them.
