The Rise and Fall of the Special Economic Zone in Central Eastern Europe
A special economic zone is a territory which is chiseled off from the national territory in terms of tax regime, import, export tariffs and customs. They were created by an entrepreneur called Brendan O'Riga who said that Shannon needed to have a new development model. And they've become all over the world with China being one of their biggest customers. The UK government announced two years ago that we're going to have 13 free ports here - but it wasn't Rishi Sunak then,.
