The Sea of Nations
The church is a microcosm the seed of humanity waiting to find its purchase in the soil of a renewed creation. The one great boat story in the old testament is the book of jonah, the israelite prophet who was sent the assyrian city of nineveh. Israel can no more control the storms of regional conflict and unrest than jonah can trol the storm in the deep. This is lesson that israel is supposed to learn from as a symbol of international relations.
