Innovating Milk Safety for East Africa

This chapter examines the development of Saffi, a low-cost device designed by students to pasteurize milk for small-scale farmers in East Africa, addressing the prevalent issue of milkborne diseases. The discussion emphasizes the significance of safe milk consumption and the impact of the device in improving farmers' incomes and community health. Insights from collaboration with local governments and NGOs illustrate the project's potential to enhance dairy practices and hygiene standards in the region.
