The Advantages and Disadvantages of Satellite Imagery
We use 17 different kinds of satellite. Those run the whole spectrum from optical satellites to synthetic aperture radar, which is basically beaming radar at the earth and then collecting what bounces back. We generally are using public satellites. The reason for that is twofold. One, it's very transparent. So theoretically, anybody could look at any satellite image that we've run our algorithm on and make their own determination about where the water is. But the other thing is that data is very consistent.
