The Beatles had already been turned down by parlophone once, based on my bunny. But they did have a tape of themselves at least, a professional quality recording they could use to attract other labels. The same day Brian had his second meeting with Decca, they had an audition with the BBC and Manchester. They were accepted to perform on T&A's turn, a radio program hosted by the Northern Dance Orchestra. A few weeks later, on the 7th of March, they went to Manchester to record four songs in front of an audience, of which three would be broadcast. That recording of John singing Please Mr Postman is historic for another reason - it was the first time ever
