Athena - A New Idea That Enables Fast Auto-Scaling for Apache Spark on Amazon
Athena enables an instant on aspects of Apache Spark on Amazon, Athena. A lot of engineering and customer experience work went into making VM cloning into a feature that could enable fast auto-scaling for Spark. In our early prototypes, we were scaling Apache Spark up and down hundreds of times faster than the next closest offering. If startup is slow, just avoid doing that.
