In western central africa, where the disease has historically been endemic, people catch it by hunting wild animals or eating meat that hasn't been cooked properly. But the disease can also spread between humans. And some of the hundreds of cases in africa seen every year are human to human transmission. It is spread by droplets from your throat. When they land in somebody else's throat, nose or eyes, that person can become infected.
